In Twilight, how are Stephanie Meyer’s vampires different than the traditional vampire found in literature by writers like Bram Stoker?

The story of Twilight is different to the old style Dracula story because of the relationships between the vampires and the normal human characters. With Twilight, people have grown less scared of vampires from before in the early 20th century vampire story of Dracula. Edward Cullen, the main character vampire in Twilight, is seen as more of a lovable character rather than the scary frightening character of Dracula. The story of Twilight is more of a romance story than being a horror story that have involved vampire in the past. It may be that people have start to see vampires as less frighting fictional characters or that the story has changed and their harmful nature of the vampire has transformed into a love story.

Hi I’m Daniel McGeoch and this term we have been reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula it is a very interesting book made back in 1897 the novel is influenced by folk stile stories. The novel was controversial for it’s time because themes in the novel, such as the role of women in Victorian culture, conventional and conservative sexuality, immigration, colonialism, post colonialism and folklore. The book was made into a very successful movie made in 1931 directed by Tod Browing and staring Bela Lugosi. The movie was considered the scariest movie ever made but now day is considered giant flop special effects wise, I mean they had a stupid flashlight on Dracula’s face to add a glowing feel to his eyes. The book was and is a great timeless classic.

In Twilight, what do you think about Edward and Belle’s relationship? Is it realistic? Why or why not?

When I was reading the novel Twilight I noticed that Edward and Bella’s relationship was not like the kinds we have today. Where women are more self dependent and don’t always need the help of another man. Bella is more of an obsessive character towards Edward; dreaming about him, clinging too him. Their relationship based on both of them trying to figure each other out, rather than the normal becoming “in love at the first sight” and “being everything they’d ever dreamed of”. They have their different views of things being the way they attract to each other. But they find it harder to express how they feel under harder circumstances. It’s good how they have built on their relationship without much experience on both sides.

Hi its Michael again, today I’m talking about the book of Dracula. Dracula the novel is a horror fiction, gothic novel that was produced on May 1897 and is 528 pages long. The novel is about a young intelligent man called Jonathon Harker who is an English solicitor and travels to a castle Transylvania called castle Dracula. Jonathon has to visit castle Dracula to sign a house in England over to Count Dracula when Jonathon arrives he meets the count to sign the papers for the house but he is under the counts commands and has to stay to teach the count the fluent English language. The count is tall, pale faced, wears a cape, has big teeth, and talks very angrily or aggressive. Read the book to find out if Jonathon survives

I like Bella because she is a good actor and the way she plays the person on Twilight. I might see it I do not know. Bella kinda sucked and I think that Edward is a good character for the movie and the part that he plays is good. If I was a vampire my ability would be the same as Edwards. I could run extremely fast and have massive strength. I would be able to climb up objects with ease and glide long distances or have thermal and night vision or if possible be able to teleport me and any object with me to a place when I think of it or even with a photo of the place. I would also like to control my thirst for blood so I wouldn’t harm anyone I care about or to transfer my thirst for blood and change it to any other form of liquid.

Heyya i’m Ashlee (Awesomeness) Selleck. I am in year 10 :D. It is a wicked ass class, we have fun and do awesome work! We are now doing a play on Dracula! It’s about Jonathon who has to stay at Draculas house, and he tries to eat him, but we stop him, the end :D. I have a pretty good part (Arthur) :P, The main charters are Daniel (Dracula). Matt (Jonathon) He isn’t very good though!! Our class is very noisy and we are pretty crazy at times! I don’t know how he can handle us! We have been reading the Twilight book also. Over all my favourite part of the class is doing the play! It’s hard when you have a class next door who are babies and can’t handle some NOISE!!! But Jayden takes care of them ;) Some people take this play way to seriously (Matthew Davis)(Jayden Hickey), they say I have anger issues, but they make me angry :D, they are so mean :( But over all this is my favourite class :D love Ash xx

If I was a vampire I would have the ability of cat like reflexes so when I do parkour I would land on my feet, I could also be really fast. There are other abilities if we could have any power I wouldn’t mind having laser eyes because that would be cool mine wouldn’t be red like usual though mine would be brown and blue if I had laser eyes. There are more fun abilities like super speed, and transformation. If I had transformation I would transform into a wolf, also a shape shifter would be fun, if I was a shape shifter I would transform into anything, mainly a wolf or something though, also to teleport. Another good power would be to control time or control other beings or inanimate objects.

This term we have been doing a lot of different things to do with fiction characters .We have been focusing on Dracula a fair bit. We have read the book, and we are now doing the play. In the play its about a man who has to go to Draculas castle and help him learn English, but it all goes wrong and Dracula bites several people but in the end it all goes alright and he dies. Everybody is participating and getting into their characters well. People are getting more confident and the play is coming along pretty good. We also had to read the book Twilight, Twilight and Dracula are very different even though they are both about vampires. Aimee x x

Q. Do you like the Twilight character Bella?

No, I do not like Bella the character because she is too clumsy and not realistic. The character needs to be more realistic with the lines, not too fake and make it as if it was real and what people would actually do in real life, to make her character better. In the book she is not as bad as in the movie because her lines are a little different and not as bad. Her relationship with Edward is weird because you wouldn’t think that a normal human would give up her normal life to become a vampire to be with one. She confuses me because she changes her mind so much it does not make sense to the story.

Over the last term we have leant about pop culture, quotes, music videos, fads, publishing album, influential people, camera angles and genres. I enjoying working on project album making which requires us to create an album, create our song, and make our own record company own logo. Mr. Excell’s is a great teacher with a funny sense of humour and a kind happy cheerful personality. This term in English, we have had Mr. Ex as our teacher, he has been great :). Recently we have been studying magazines and we have been able to make our own as a class. The subject I was given was ‘friends and body’, this has been really good because I was able to work with my friends. Yes, it was a little hard because we had to come up with things very quickly. My end result turned out good because I came up with some good advice from scratch, with a little help from my partner Allysha Mounsey. I think that this was a great experience for the class, because during this time we have started bonding with each other. It’s been a privilege to be able to have Mr. Ex as my English teacher this term, I have really enjoyed everything we have done

The thing I liked in Mr Excell’s class was when we got to go and make our own two magazine pages on what we wanted to do. I chose Myspace and Top Music Charts in Australia. The number 1 was ‘I Gotta Feelin’ by The Black Eyed Peas. There’s two more I like to do. The spelling game, when 1 person goes into the middle of a circle of people and call out words to spell. Say I said say spell three, 1 person would say ‘t’ and it would just keep going around until someone gets a letter wrong or when the word is finished. And another one I liked was when we got to make some word sleuths but we could only use words out of the magazines, like the title.

Hey, I’m Matt Davis (Year 10). And I am in Mr X’s year 10 English class 09. He has been our English teacher for only 1 term so far, and I think he has taken upon himself the challenge of teaching our class, full of distraction, misfits and people with anger management problems (Ashlee Selleck). Mr X has picked pop culture as our topic this term in an attempt to keep our easily distracted class amused. This term I have learnt about camera angles, as Mr X sent us on an adventure to take photos of a whole bunch of different angles, as my group climbed fences and threw bin lids around the oval to get the required photos. This term has been very fun and I am looking forward to next term.

In our magazine “80h!9” we have a lot of topics our class will think you will enjoy. One of these topics is a car review of all 3 options for the new GT-HO 351. We are not giving away any of its stats but we can say you’ll be amazed. This new model is due in 2011 (possibly even in 2009) it all depends on what options they take. So far in English our class has been studying magazines, and a couple of weeks later we have been able to create our own as a class. I’ve studied music and horoscopes. I enjoyed doing this because the class reacted well and we all related with each other. It’s really interesting because you have to look at lots of magazines and its cool because most of the time we were reading magazines. I was really impressed with myself with doing the horoscopes. I’ve created 12 star sign from scratch with a little help from Jessica Salmon, and they turned out great. With my music it was easy, all I had to do was ask some people what’s their favourite artist are and I was looking up the MOST DOWNLOADED. It was great.

I cannot wait until we finally see the magazine.

Jamon B & my car review is about the 2011 GT-HO renewal. The FPV vehicle will have over 500kw of power. FPV have three options they have two FPV models and one HSV model. Personally I think the second is the best. I chose this one because the third one is a Holden and the first one doesn’t look good.
